The Sea to Sky Singers have been practicing night and day for months – and the choir is now ready to deliver something for everyone this holiday season with A Ceremony of Carols on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12 and 13.

The anchor piece this year is a widely-known modern classical arrangement composed by Benjamin Britten in the 1940s, said choir conductor Veronica McPhee.

“These pieces are put together from medieval poems of biblical texts,” she said, so the performance is in Latin and Middle English.

The performance also reunites McPhee and her sisters, Jean Marie Kent and Christine Fagan, who will alternate movements with the choir.

The sisters return as a trio after the warm reception they received in 2007.

“We had a great time,” sad McPhee. “The song I hear the most about is we sang an interesting version of the 12 Days of Christmas, it was a lot of fun. We kind of spiced that one up a bit.”

This year’s repertoire is no different as the Sea to Sky Singers move from the serious mood of classical to the upbeat rock medleys, to sing alongs, doo-wop numbers, a rock medley, Twas the Night Before Christmas set to music, traditional tunes like Over the River and Through the Woods, and some songs encompassing Christmas traditions.”

Attracting an audience from a wide cross section is “one reason why I offer sort of a feast of different things for people at the concert,” said McPhee.

Catch the performances at the St. John Anglican Church on Diamond Rd. at 7:30 p.m., or during the Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults or $10 for seniors and students and are available at Billie’s Bouquet, Highland Video, and at the door.
