Squamish parents warned of possible child predator

Students need to be on look out for a possible child predator following a suspicious incident that happened this morning, warned School District 48 superintendent Dr. Rick Erickson this morning.

Erickson sent an email alert out to all Squamish schools, which was forwarded to parents with a subject line stating “Message from Superintendent IMPORTANT,” after a man tried to encourage a child into his vehicle this morning.

“A man with thinning grey hair, in a newer blue pickup with a canopy (and a dog), asked if he could give a student a ride this morning before school,” stated Erickson's alert.

“The student declined, and the man drove north on Government from Judd Road. Any student out of the school at lunch, please be alerted to this event, and make sure you contact the office if you see or encounter someone of this description.”
