Citizen of Year, other award nominees named

Sue Adams is one of three Whistlerites that has been named a finalist for the 2012 Citizen of the Year honour, along with Alix Nicoll and Brad Sills. The award recipient will be announced on July 6 at a gala awards event.

The finalists have been announced for the Whistler Excellence Awards, a new awards program that joins together some of the community's most prestigious local awards in one gala event.

Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year, the Business and the Arts award and others will be presented on July 6 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The Whistler Excellence Awards are presented by the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Whistler, the Whistler Arts Council and the Whistler Centre for Sustainability.

A total of 17 finalists have been named in six award categories:

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR:
· Alix Nicoll

· Brad Sills

· Sue Adams

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR:
· Danielle Kristmanson, Origin Design + Communications

· Paul Mathews, Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners

· Wayne Katz, Gone Eatery, Moguls Coffee House and Zogs Dogs

BUSINESS AND THE ARTS AWARD:
· Burnt Stew Computer Solutions, Kendra Mazzei

· TD Canada Trust, John Nadeau

SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD
· Lush Handmade Cosmetics

· Sundial Boutique Hotel

· Upper Village Market

INNOVATIVE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
· Nonna Pia's Gourmet Sauces

· Prior Skis and Snowboards

· RTown Communications

SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION BUSINESS AWARD
· RDC Finehomes

· Whistler Community Services Society
