Eagles down Temple

Week 5 HSMSL action sees Ellis Moving upset Sikh Temple

The Ellis Moving Eagles leapfrogged into third place in the Howe Sound Men’s Soccer League (HSMSL) with a decisive 5-1 victory over Sikh Temple at Brennan Park field on Sunday (Sept. 30).

The Eagles got two goals from Ed Celella and singles from Rick Baker, Austin Aldridge and Nathan Ward. Bruno Freitas replied for Sikh Temple. The Eagles improved to two wins and one loss, while Temple remained winless.

The afternoon game saw B&B Excavating continue its undefeated run with an 8-1 win over Lilwat FC. Jeremy Galley picked up a hat trick, Richard Collins scored twice and Todd Rippon, Chris Tetly and Gary O’Neil also chipped in for the win. Galley leads the HSMSL in goals with seven in four games.

B&B Excavating maintained its second-place position at three wins and a tie. With the loss, Lilwat moved to one win and three losses and sits in fifth place.

Meanwhile, first-place Galileo improved to four wins and no losses after a default win over Zephyr, who sit in seventh place with zero wins and three losses.

HSMSL action continues on Sunday (Oct. 7) and will be highlighted by a battle for first-place between Galileo and B&B Excavating. The two teams met in the league final last April and the game will determine bragging rights at this early stage of the season. Sikh Temple will take on Zephyr in match featuring the league’s two winless teams and the late game will see the Ellis Moving Eagles hit the pitch against Automind.
