Minor Titans post first win

Minors win, Pee Wees lose in GSL football action

Home field wasn’t too kind for the Sea to Sky Pee Wee Titans football club, who dropped a 30-6 decision to the West Vancouver 49ers at Howe Sound field on Sunday (Oct. 21).

It was a critical loss for the Titans, who fell out of a tie for first to being tied for third in the GSL Pee Wee standings. Titans running back Scott Friestadt had 50 yards rushing in the loss. Jhett Verner scored the Titans’ lone touchdown.

With the loss, the Pee Wees record fell to four wins, two losses and one tie on the season.

Howe Sound field proved to be an advantage for the Minor Titans, who picked up their first win on the season on Sunday. The Minors defeated West Vancouver 32-26 and it was Nolan Welsh who clinched the game with his second touchdown, scoring with just minutes to go in the game.

Hunter Verner also picked up a pair of touchdowns, one from a kickoff return and one after catching a touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Forsyth. Nolan Robinson Nault scored the Titans other touchdown on the afternoon.

The Titans improved to one win and six losses on the season with the victory and they remain in sixth place in the GSL Minor standings.
