The Spirit of Squamish event planned by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association will be held in the Eagle Eye Theatre tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 2) at 7 p.m. This is a fundraiser to raise money for the AME (Access Music Education) that support youth financially in all performing arts. The event will showcase the talented youth in our community and, admission is by donation.
Whats going on in the Sea to Sky Corridor? The Friends of the Library have a book sale at the Squamish Public Library on Saturday (Nov. 3) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday (Nov. 4) from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This group is also holding a fundraiser raffle with winners to be announced on Nov. 29. Consider purchasing a ticket or two while at the book sale.
The Squamish Food Bank will distribute grocery hampers on Wednesday (Nov. 7) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alano Club on Third Avenue. Cash or cheques donations are always welcomed and can be mailed to the Food Bank c/o P.O. Box 207, Garibaldi Highlands, V0N 1T0. Income tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.
The Womens Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital will be selling tickets at the Wal Mart this weekend (Nov. 2, 3 and 4) for their Christmas raffle to be drawn on Nov. 24.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277 has a meat draw at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 2), a fundraiser for the Quick Forest Grove in Brackendale.
This Friday and Saturday (Nov. 2 and 3) members of the Legion Branch #277 will be out in the community requesting support for Poppy Days. On Sunday (Nov. 4) the Air Force Cadets and Sea Cadets will be out with trays of poppies and your support will be much appreciated. On Sunday (Nov. 4) the annual church parade and Colour Party from the Legion will attend the morning service at 10 a.m. at St. Johns Anglican Church.
The Squamish Culture and Heritage Festival is planned at the Quest University on Nov. 23 and 24. Also, the Squamish Historical Society has its membership meeting at the university on Thursday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering for the festival will be welcome to attend and, there will also be a tour of the university.
