Demo day comes to WOP

CWSC offering free cross-country, biathlon lessons

The Callaghan Winter Sports Club (CWSC) is inviting Squamoleans to come play at Whistler Olympic Park (WOP).

The group’s annual demo day is set for Nov. 24 and will give club members the chance to reacquaint themselves with the trails and get a sneak peek of what group lessons with experienced instructors feel like.

It all gets underway at 10 a.m. with a one-hour skate-ski lesson, followed by a one-hour classic ski lesson starting at 11:30 a.m. and finishing with a biathlon tutorial from 1 to 2 p.m.

Participants must bring their own equipment but rifles for the biathlon portion of the demo day will be provided by the CWSC. Lessons will meet at the CWSC wax cabin, which is located near the biathlon building at the park.

The lessons are free to any CWSC member or anyone with a daily trail pass at WOP but organizers ask that, in lieu of a fee, participants donate to Right To Play Canada, an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve the lives of young people in disadvantaged areas of the world.
