Squamish hits the mega scene in Twilight

Twilight is hitting the big screen and so is Squamish.

Vampires are coming out of the dark. The final film in the Twilight series, cash in on $141.3 million last weekend for the film industry's eighth largest opening weekend. While actress Kristen Stewart and actor Robert Pattinson burn up teenagers' heart, Squamish is capturing views from around the world. The community took on the role of Forks, Wash. The community played a huge part in the vampire saga by serving as the setting for one of the biggest anticipated movie scenes of 2011 — the wedding ceremony between Bella and Edward. At the time, district officials estimated the production pumped $1.5 million into the local economy.
