Squamish Chamber of Commerce members elected seven new directors to the chamber board of directors last week.
Six of the new members — Ian Davis, Denise Evans, Jeff Cooke, Lisa Princic, Auli Parviainen and Mike Quesnel — named on Friday (Nov. 30) will serve two-year terms on the board. Ron Anderson was elected to a one-year term.
The seven will join returning members Chris Pettingill, Megan Tadeson, Roopy Toor, Sameer Kajani and Greg Fischer on the board for 2013. Quesnel, owner of Stuntwood Enterprises, was re-elected to a spot on the board.
Two of the new board members ran unsuccessfully for Squamish council a year ago. Parviainen, owner/operator of Sustainable Action Consulting Inc., lost out in a close race for mayor to Rob Kirkham, while Cooke, who owns Bark Busters, was the seventh-place finisher in the council race.
Davis represents Race and Co., Evans owns Sea to Sky Counselling, Princic is with Changemakers Tools and Anderson is president of Squamish Terminals.
The new Chamber executive will be named at the board’s first full meeting.
