Test of Metal locals sells out

All 200 spots for 18th Squamish classic snagged in two days

At least 200 locals will ride the 2013 Test of Metal race, after all the spots in the special locals-only race entry period were quickly gobbled up.

Registration was made available o Saturday (Dec. 1) at 6 p.m. and Test of Metal chair Cliff Miller said all but 23 spots had been scooped up by Monday (Dec. 3) morning. Miller said the final 23 should be gone by Monday night.

Those who missed out shouldn’t panic, as there are still several ways to take part in the biggest race of the year. Starting on Dec. 15 and closing on Dec. 31, there will be an opportunity for riders to register in all four races in the Hell of A Series. Only 150 spots will be made available to register in the Orecrusher, Gearjammer, Test of Metal and JABR. The registration won’t be exclusive to Squamoleans, as anyone can grab the four pack of races.

Registration for non-locals kicks off on Jan. 1 at 6 p.m., with a three pack for the non-Test of Metal races available on Jan. 2 at 6 p.m.

Miller said the idea behind packaging the races together is to build interest in the series as a whole. He said he was pleased with how the locals-only registration went and praised the community for its ongoing support of his series.

“I’d like to thank all the locals in the corridor for their support. It’s much appreciated,” he said.
