The Howe Sound East Fire Protection Service was among the largest recipients of some $170,000 handed out to Sea to Sky charities by the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation (WBF) this month.
The Britannia Beach-based service received $25,000 for new auto extrication equipment including spreaders, cutters and a pump, WBF officials said in a statement issued on Dec. 7.
Other local charities to receive some of the foundation’s fall allocation were the Squamish Food Bank ($5,000), the Howe Sound Women’s Centre Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Sea to Sky Corridor.
Since 1993, the foundation has handed out more than $7.5 million in grants to Sea to Sky-based charities. Application submission deadlines are April 1 and Oct. 1 of each year. For more information, please visit www.whistlerblackcombfoundation.com
