The Funk Hunters will play at the CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre at the West Coast Heritage Railway Park on New Year's Eve.

Squamish residents looking to say farewell to 2012 will have a number of options to party New Year's Eve away locally.

The CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre at the West Coast Heritage Railway Park will be transformed into party central when it becomes the setting for a new party entitled The Drop.

Six different live acts will perform at the event including: The Funk Hunters, Humans, Neon Steve and local performers Riddim Fernandez, Drew Funk and Pitch N' Putt.

It all gets underway at 9 p.m. and lasts until 4:30 a.m., with drinks from Cariboo Brewing and food from Two Birds Eatery. The event offers a complimentary shuttle for all attendees and will offer special wristbands to designated drivers, who will receive free soft drinks for the night.

Tickets are $50 and are available at the door or at Trinity Romance in Squamish. Those in Whistler can pick up tickets at Evolution. For more details, visit www.thedropnye.com.

Patrons at the Howe Sound Brew Pub will ring in the New Year with Buzy B and the Honeycomb Kids at the glam rock-themed party.

The group is described as a blend of funk, hip hop and rock music and will hit the stage at 9 p.m. Tickets entitle patrons to a pint of beer. Those also wanting dinner can choose between two New Year's meal packages, one with champagne and one without. Check out www.howesound.com for more details.

Chances Casino will also be rocking with a deluxe three-course feast. Seatings for the meal are available at 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Bingo will also make a special Monday appearance for New Year's, with games kicking off at 7 p.m. and lasting well into the night. Encore Rewards gold card members will have chances to win big with hot seat draws on the machines every hour starting at 7 p.m., with a grand prize draw taking place at 12:15 a.m.

If gambling isn't your thing, soul rock band The Overcomers will perform steps away from the casino at the Rock Bar and Grill starting at 9 p.m. There will also be champagne and goodies when the clock strikes at midnight for all casino goers.

For more information or to reserve your seat for the buffet, give the casino a call at (604) 892-2946. For more details on the event, visit www.chancessquamish.com.

If you’re looking for a special dining experience on New Year’s Eve, check out the Shady Tree Neighbourhood Pub, which has dinner specials, as well as The Living Room at the Executive Suites, Pepe and Gringo’s, the Cliffside Pub in Valleycliffe, The Nest in Brackendale or Timberwolf. Another good party venue might be the Ruddy Duck in downtown Squamish.
