Titans ready for 2013

Multi-sport club gearing up for busy New Year

A new year can often bring about new fitness goals and the Squamish Titans athletic club has returned for 2013 looking to help some of those fitness fanatics out.

The multi-sport group, which focuses on swimming, cycling and running, will resume its masters swimming squad training at the upgraded Brennan Park pool starting on Jan. 7.

Swim coaches Roseline Mondor Grimm and Yi-ky Saw will run the sessions, which cost $165 through March or $280 for both the winter and spring sessions. The winter series leads up to the Love to Swim event in Vancouver on Feb. 24. Running sessions for the club are expected to begin in mid-January, with biking sessions occurring later in the year.

Former and returning members are also encouraged to renew both their club memberships ($30) and Triathlon B.C. membership ($35) for 2013. Students aged at least 16 can join the club and will receive a 10 per cent discount.

The Titans also announced that after six years as club president, Graham Schultz has stepped down and has been replaced by Tim Moore. In other club news, Nicole McRae filled in as vice-president of the club, a position that was vacant in 2012. The club also announced the departure of running coach Roger Shirt, but noted that he will still be involved in select sessions in 2013.
