The Howe Sound Curling Club (HSCC) will be buzzing with action this weekend with some of the province’s top senior women’s players coming to town to compete for a spot at the provincials.

The tournament features 11 teams from all over the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island battling it out for a trip to Trail at the provincials in April.

The action gets underway on Friday (Jan. 18) morning and games continue until the final draw on Sunday (Jan. 20) at 1 p.m. Competition will be fierce as the top four teams will advance to the provincials.

Locals wanting to hit the ice at the HSCC still have an opportunity to do so with the Friday night social league, which gets underway on Jan. 25. The introductory program lasts until March 15 and games run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Individuals can sign up at a cost of $120 or a team of four can register for $480. The social league is limited to eight teams and for more information contact Hilary Fisher at hilafish@shaw.ca.

The next big event on the horizon for the club is the mixed bonspiel on Feb. 2 and 3. For more information on the club, visit www.howesoundcurl.com.
