Paddling Club ready for 2013

Group offering drop-in program at Brennan Park

The Squamish Paddling Club (SPC) is getting set to hit the water for the first time in 2013.

The club announced its Saturday night drop-in sessions at Brennan Park pool will start up again on Feb. 2 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Those interested are advised to enter through the side door at the pool and sign up with an SPC representative. Drop-in rates are $10 for adults or $5 for those under 19.

Participants at the drop-in sessions must be SPC members, with club membership costing $30 for adults, $15 for under 19 and students or $75 for a family.

The next big event on the calendar for the SPC will be the Reel Paddling Film Festival in early May. The event is a fundraiser for the SPC and all money raised from the event will go toward an oceanfront boat storage solution for local paddlers. Full details on the film schedule for the festival are expected to be released in the coming months.

The SPC’s first social paddles and toonie races of 2013 are likely to take place in the spring. Last year’s first social paddle occurred on April 15, with the first toonie race going down in May.
