Capilano University is receiving almost $350,000 from B.C.ís Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training to support the integration of immigrants to B.C.
The $347,000 grant from the Welcome B.C. fund is part of $8.5 million being provided to service providers in 51 communities, officials said in a statement issued on Tuesday (Feb. 19). Established in 2007, the framework helps immigrants moving to new communities access programs and services under one umbrella, officials said.
ďImproving access and services to immigrants in our communities is central to the Welcoming Communities Program. Iím pleased to see this kind of practical support to newcomers to the Sea to Sky Corridor through the services of Capilano University,Ē West Vancouver-Sea to Sky MLA Joan McIntyre said in a statement.
The local Capilano University contracts are valued at $107,000 each for Pemberton and Whistler and $133,000 for Squamish, officials said.
