STS, Telus improving trail network

Company donating money toward resurfacing of spawning-channel paths

The Squamish Trails Society (STS) and a telecommunications firm are teaming up to improve a key link in Squamish’s well-used trail network.

STS and Telus officials recently announced that the company was contributing $25 on behalf of every new Squamish Optik TV customer to sign up, up to a maximum of $30,000, with the money to be used to resurface the Golf Course/Spawning Channel trail system.

“We have had the resurfacing of this very busy trail network on our radar for a number of years,” the STS’s Bob Brant said in a statement. “With its immense popularity and constant use, the trails are well worn, especially the dike portions, where the original top surface materials have long since been worn away, leaving large rocks showing above the ground.

“We are grateful that, with this gift from Telus, we can ensure safer use for our area residents and visitors.”
