The Squamish Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) wants to make Brennan Park Arena a hub of activity this winter and it all starts this weekend with the second annual B.C. Major Midget League (BCMML) event.
The Vancouver Northwest Giants, the South Island Royals and the Vancouver North East Chiefs will take over Brennan Park with games on Friday through Sunday (Sept. 13 to 15).
The Chiefs and the Giants kick off the weekend on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with the Royals and Chiefs battling it out on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The Giants and the Royals conclude the mini-tournament with a game on Sunday at noon. Admission is free.
Brennan Park will also see some increased activity in 2014, with four new tournaments coming to Squamish in the New Year.
The SMHA recently appointed David Knight as the organizationís new tournament coordinator and he got to work quickly putting together these four events.
There will be an H3/H4 tournament from Jan. 2 to 5, an Atom A tournament from Feb. 8 to 10, an Atom C tournament from March 15 to 17 and a Peewee C tournament from March 21 to 23.
