Compass brand Walnuts recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination

TORONTO, Canada, Canada - Compass brand in-shell California Walnuts are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected product was sold across Canada in 300 gram packages with a best before date of Mar 7, 2014.

Compass Food Sales of Aurora, Ont has recalled the walnuts and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Salmonellosis can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections, however, there have been no reports any illnesses being linked to the product.
