Spread of influenza in Newfoundland leads to visitor restrictions

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - The largest health authority in Newfoundland has closed three health facilities to visitors to reduce the spread of influenza.

Eastern Health says the closures affect the Hoyles Escasoni Complex in St. John's and the Placentia Health Centre and nursing home in Placentia.

However, outpatient services at the Placentia Health Centre will continue.

Meanwhile, Eastern Health has also imposed visitor restrictions at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home in Clarke's Beach, the Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre on Bell Island, the St. Patrick's Mercy Home in St. John's and the Saint Luke's Homes in St. John's.
