REGINA - Some Regina parents of children with cancer say they're concerned about a proposal to merge pediatric oncology with another pediatric unit.
The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region is looking at consolidating pediatric oncology at the Pasqua Hospital with kids units at the Regina General Hospital.
Terrance Williamson says his one-year-old son, Lucian, is at very high risk for infection.
Williamson says the pediatric oncology unit doesn't have other kids with infectious illnesses, so his son can leave his room to play or to learn to walk.
Williamson worries that kids with cancer could be confined to their rooms and that would hurt their quality of life.
Saskatchewan Health Minister Dustin Duncan says the health region is looking at the idea, but the plan won't go ahead unless concerns are addressed.
