COPENHAGEN - Danish brewer Carlsberg says it returned to profit in first quarter of 2013 on the back of good sales in Asia and eastern Europe.
Net profit was of 62 million kroner ($10.9 million), up from a loss of 76 million kroner a year earlier.
Revenue swelled to 13.3 billion kroner ($2.3 billion), from 12.8 billion kroner. Organic beer volumes for the group grew by 4 per cent.
CEO Joergen Buhl Rasmussen said in a statement Tuesday that Carlsberg delivered a "solid performance" in line with expectations.
Carlsberg shares went up 4 per cent to 547.5 kroner in early trading in Copenhagen.
