Local environmental groups are joining forces with several talented musicians to welcome summer to Squamish and also bring awareness to their causes.
The Save the Sound Summer Solstice benefit concert occurs on Saturday (June 21) at the Cliffside Pub and coming together for the event are the Future of Howe Sound Society, the Gambier Island Conservancy, the Squamish River Watershed Society and My Sea to Sky.
Organizers aim to raise awareness and money for the Howe Sound area, in light of the rebound the region has made in recent years and the potential obstacles facing the area in the future. All proceeds from the concert will go towards the aforementioned environmental groups.
Bands performing at the event include Bowen Island-based band Walk on Dead and Squamish’s The Will Ross Band.
Doors open for the event at 9 p.m., with the bands hitting the stage at 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at the door and at Kelly Eclectibles in Downtown Squamish. They can also be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/694964.
