The Squamish SPCA is seeking help for Barnaby.

The brown tabby cat needs extensive medical care after being in a fight with a dog.

He requires surgery to remove his eye as well as face surgery, according to Marika Donnelly, manager of BC SPCA Sea to Sky.

The care will cost about $1,700.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t receive medical treatment for his injuries when the attack occurred,” Donnelly said. “By the time he was surrendered to us, his condition had worsened.”

Despite his injuries, the six-year-old tabby is “an absolute mush ball,” according to Donnelly.  He is quiet and gentle and loves to be cuddled, she said.

Because the SPCA is a not-for-profit, Donnelly is hoping Squamish pet-lovers will come forward to help pay for Barnaby’s care.

“We really hope people will help us get Barnaby the medical care he needs so that we can find him a new, loving home as quickly as possible.”

Go to spca.bc.ca/medicalemergency or in person to the SPCA on Government Road to donate.
