The man known as “the ultimate gardener” is coming to Squamish.
Well-known Canadian gardening personality Art Drysdale is making the trip to Squamish and is the keynote speaker for the Squamish Gardeners annual event on Monday (April 7) at the Eagle Eye Theatre.
For the past four decades, Drysdale has been informing and entertaining the public in print and on radio and television with his practical gardening tips. He hosted a popular show on CFRB in Toronto, was the horticultural editor of Plant & Garden magazine for many years and also appeared for many years on The Weather Network.
Drysdale also received a Canadian Centennial Medal in 1967 for his service to Canada, a Canadian silver jubilee medal in 1977 and the Bulldog award from the borough of East York, Ont., for his service to that community.
“He’s a fabulous speaker and is quite accomplished and well known, particularly in the east,” said Sue Smythe from Squamish Gardeners. “His knowledge is really exceptional and what’s really great about him is his sense of humour.”
The event is titled “Questions People Like You Ask Me – And My Responses.” It’s expected that Drysdale will take questions from the audience and answer almost anything any gardening-related question.
It all goes down on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre. Tickets are $15 and are available in advance at Billie’s Flower House, Anna’s Attic or at the door.
