Updated: Car on fire near Squamish on Highway 99 Wednesday afternoon

According to the District, no injuries were reported from this incident.

As this video shot by Stacey Thomas shows, there was a car fire on Highway 99 southbound just south of the Sea to Sky Gondola, past Squamish, in the afternoon of, Sept. 6. 

Thomas was in one of the first vehicles behind the burning car and said it was fully engulfed as she approached.

There were three people standing near the car. 

No injuries were reported from this incident, according to a District of Squamish email on Sept. 7.

Squamish Fire Rescue was dispatched to the fire Wednesday at approximately 2:21 p.m. to the blaze south of Darrell Bay.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a vehicle burning and worked quickly to bring the fire under control, the District spokesperson said. 

As a result of the incident, the southbound lane of the highway was temporarily closed from 2:25 to 3:04 p.m. as crews did their work.
