Alleged Squamish drug traffickers arrested

Drugs and cash seized from the Third Ave. location

The Squamish RCMP have arrested three Squamish men linked to an alleged drug trafficking operation, the detachment announced Monday.

The men, who are all known to police, were arrested on Oct. 5, as a result of an in depth investigation, spearheaded by the Squamish RCMP with assistance from the Sea to Sky General Investigation Section, according to an RCMP news release.

The men, aged 43, 38, and 36, were arrested and released from custody the following day, pending further investigation.

Following the arrests, officers executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in the 38000 block of Third Avenue.

The officers found and seized a quantity of suspected drugs, paraphernalia associated to drug use and trafficking and an undisclosed amount of cash.
“Several people have reported concerns with the open drug use in various downtown areas of Squamish, including the parks. As a result, investigators focused their efforts on the open-air, street level drug traffickers,” said Squamish RCMP Sgt. Jeff Shore. “The broader impacts of this enforcement action is yet to be seen, but it's expected to send a message to others involved in selling drugs. That message is, ‘We are coming for you.’"
