Michelle Livaja.

And then there were four. The BC NDP party has announced that Michelle Livaja is its candidate in West Vancouver-Sea to Sky.

Livaja joins incumbent BC Liberal Jordan Sturdy, the Green Party’s Dana Taylor and independent candidate Tristan Galbraith in the run to be MLA in the provincial election May 9.

Christy Clark is making life harder for British Columbians, Livaja said in a news release from  the party announcing her acclimation.

Livaja lives on Bowen Island with her husband and is currently studying communications full-time at Capilano University, the release states.

Previously she worked for the BC Nurses’ Union.

She is also a member of the Movement of United Professionals, a delegate to the Vancouver District Labour Council and volunteers with the Metro Vancouver Alliance.

"I come from four generations of workers who built this province, but I don't recognize it anymore," Livaja said.

"For years, Christy Clark raised MSP fees, Hydro rates and the cost of insuring your car," she added. "Instead of helping everyday British Columbians, she is giving tax breaks to her millionaire donors."

Livaja said she supports the NDP’s call for a $15 minimum wage, $10 a day childcare and affordable housing.

BC NDP Leader John Horgan said, “Michelle Livaja knows how hard British Columbians are working, and that they deserve a government that works just as hard to make their lives better. I’m proud that Michelle is part of our team.”
