Branding to be unveiled

Presentation set for Sept. 30

The municipality is wrapping up its branding for the community.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the Squamish Brand Enhancement Project will be presented to the District of Squamish’s council at Committee of the Whole beginning at 1 p.m. The presentation will be streamed live and will be available online at www.squamish.ca following the meeting.

The presentation will highlight nine months of work by 17 community members, along with the project’s facilitators, Destination Development International.

“We are very excited to share our work with Council and the community and set the stage for us to transition to the new brand,” brand leadership committee member Glenn Davies stated in a press release. “So much effort by many individuals has gone into where we are today – including the 1,143 people who submitted such thoughtful survey responses back in January. We can’t wait to get the next phase off the ground.”

The Brand Leadership Team will present the overall brand strategy, as well as the Branding, Development & Marketing Action Plan that lays out 55 recommendations. Council and the community will also get a glimpse of the finalized logo and corporate materials intended for the district to begin using for its stationery, website and signage.

“Refining our brand aims to put Squamish on the map as one of British Columbia’s best destinations in which to live, work, learn and play, resulting in the creation of year-round job and business opportunities beyond just tourism,” Squamish mayor Rob Kirkham said. “I’m very much looking forward to hearing about the results of the Brand Leadership Team’s hard work.”
