Squamish council reaffirmed its 2010 resolution in opposition to the Garibaldi at Squamish (GAS) resort proposal Tuesday night at its meeting.
The resolution advises the provincial minister of environment and tourism, culture and arts that the District of Squamish does not support issuance of an Environmental Assessment Certificate, conditional or otherwise, for the GAS proposal in its current form. Council’s concerns about the project include water supply and wildlife habitat; that the project does not meet the district’s smart growth and sustainable land-use plans; and the size, scale, and layout of the GAS proposal.
