Free Sunday Socials in the park starting June 3

Local wants to see families and tourists come together to groove to some beats downtown

Sundays can be a bit of a “no fun zone” in Squamish, says local Christopher Hill.

To spice things up, Hill, the owner of On Track - Events Coordination & Management Solutions is throwing Squamish Sunday Socials for eight Sundays this summer, starting June 3.

These will be free afternoons of music and dancing in Junction Park at the O'Siyam Pavilion, located in downtown Squamish.

“This is a not for profit initiative intended as a gift to the community to encourage strengthening relations,” said Hill in an email to The Chief.

The first Sunday will include performances by DJ Crippled Wheel, familiar to anyone who frequents the Knotty Burl; Whistler’s DJ Ande (Andrew Bowes) and Hill himself as DJ Chris Chill.

For future Sundays, Hill says he plans to organize “themed music programs that will include local and national artists, representing several music genres.”

Dates include:

June - 3, 10, and 24
July 8
August 26
Sept. 2, 9 and 23

The events will run from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, go to On Track - Events Coordination & Management Solutions on Facebook.
