Squamish commuters take note — things may get even more painful at the gas pump.

The Canadian Press reports that Alberta Premier Rachel Notley said her province will be introducing legislation this week that will allow Edmonton to cut oil supplies to B.C.

This would be likely to send gas prices soaring, and would no doubt affect many Squamish locals who travel frequently to the Lower Mainland or to Whistler.

Notley’s remarks were reported after she met with the prime minister and B.C. Premier John Horgan over the weekend to address the deadlock over the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

B.C. will continue to block the project, according to The Canadian Press.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, however, reaffirmed that the pipeline will be built.
