It’s about to get even hotter in Squamish.

The temperature in the daytime is expected to soar to the mid and upper 30s in Howe Sound for several days, according to Environment Canada.

Daily temperature records will likely be broken in many communities between Tuesday and Thursday. The all-time record for the month of August may also be topped.

Environment Canada says everyone is at risk of heat-related illness, but the most vulnerable are young children, pregnant women, the elderly, those working or exercising in the heat, people with chronic illness and those living alone in un-air-conditioned homes and the homeless.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets in a parked vehicle.

The heat combined with the lack of rain so far this month will maintain a high to extreme fire danger rating across much of southern B.C.
