The Liberal Party of Canada nomination meetings are planned on Thursday (June 12) in Squamish.

 

The Liberal Party of Canada is getting set to nominate its candidate in the riding that includes Squamish.

Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, the former mayor of West Vancouver, and small business owner Robert Cannon-Brown of Gibsons are the two people vying for the nomination in West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country.

The chosen candidate will go up against two-term incumbent Member of Parliament John Weston, who was recently acclaimed as the nominee for the Conservative Party. The New Democrats and Greens have yet to set nomination dates.

Nomination meetings are planned on Thursday (June 12) in Squamish. The Squamish nomination meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Squamish United Church. Speeches will run until 5:30 p.m. Liberal Party of Canada members will vote from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The next federal election is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 19, 2015.
