Nile Sinnes, a missing 18-year-old from Squamish, was found by police officers a short distance from Edmonton, Alta. around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, the Squamish RCMP said.

Police officers stopped him in his truck while he was driving in the area.

Sinnes’ family reported him missing on June 18 and word quickly spread on social media about his disappearance.

The Squamish RCMP couldn’t comment on why Sinnes left, saying it’s now a private family matter.

"The Squamish RCMP would like to extend a thank you to the family, friends, search and rescue groups, and those who participated in looking for Nile. The response from the residents of Squamish and those around the province was immense and their assistance in the investigation was invaluable," Cpl. Sascha Banks.
