The District of Squamish’s revamped brand won a Marketing Canada Award at the Economic Developers Association of Canada conference in Saskatoon last week. Squamish’s community profile was also recognized with an award for publications greater than four pages.

“Congratulations to all involved in winning these two awards; the branding award in particular is a huge testament to the efforts of the community committee who led the charge during the brand process, and the Brand Leadership Team and our community partners who have rolled out the brand with so much creativity and passion,” said Mayor Patricia Heintzman in a news release.

Vote for Squamish

Two Squamish businesses have been nominated for Small Business BC Awards.

Sea To Sky Air and Whiplash Industries have been nominated for the Premier’s People’s Choice awards. The awards recognize the outstanding achievements of B.C. businesses with fewer than 50 employees. Nominations and voting close on Nov. 30. Recipients win $1,500 cash as well as access to educational business opportunities. The Top 10 finalists will be announced on Dec. 12.  For more info go to www.sbbcawards.ca.

Correction

In the Remembrance Day edition of  The Squamish Chief, there was a factual error about one of our veterans. It was incorrectly written that John Wadworth was born in 1920 and passed away in 2011. The correct information is: John Wadworth was born in 1925 and served in CMF Italy British Forces during the Second World War. He currently lives in Squamish. We regret the error.
