Assault and threats

A 29-year-old man was arrested for assault and uttering threats against a 35-year-old Squamish woman at a residence on Kelvin Grove Way, RCMP report. Police say the incident occurred on Friday, Feb. 20 at approximately 10:15 a.m. 

Police car chase

Squamish RCMP were involved in a high-risk vehicle take down on Industrial Way near the highway on Saturday, Feb. 21, that resulted in two 25-year-old men – one from Surrey and the other from Chilliwack – being detained and weapons charges being pursued.

The Whistler RCMP had advised the Squamish detachment that they were looking for two men in a black Jeep Cherokee who were reportedly armed with a handgun, according to the police report. The vehicle was stopped by police travelling southbound on the highway. No firearms were found in the vehicle, but a pair of brass knuckles was seized, police said. 

Whistler RCMP located two replica air pistols at a hotel the suspects were associated with, police said.

School break and enter

An Apple MacBook laptop was stolen from Squamish Elementary School, located in the 38000 block of Buckley Avenue, on Wednesday, Feb. 18. 

A window was broken to gain entry, police said. Police received information leading them to a suspect. The investigation is ongoing, Squamish RCMP said.

Computer taken

An Acer Veriton desktop computer worth about $500 was stolen from a business in the 40000 block of Government Road overnight on Friday, Feb. 20. The doors to the business had been locked, but the alarm was not activated, Squamish RCMP said. There was no sign of forced entry, according to police. 

Theft from vehicle

Three purses were stolen from a vehicle parked at the Shannon Falls parking lot on Sunday, Feb. 22 between 2 and 5 p.m.  

The purses contained identification, bank cards, an iPhone, a Sigma camera lens, jewelry, makeup, a Samsung Galaxy phone charger and a small amount of cash. The purses were left in plain sight in the back of the vehicle, which may have been unlocked, police said.

Mischief

A tire was punctured while it was parked overnight in a lot in the 38000 block of Westway on Monday, Feb. 23, police said. No other damage was done to the vehicle, and nothing was stolen.
