FALSE ALARMS

Squamish RCMP received 23 calls for Active Alarms which upon attendance were deemed to be False Alarms between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18.

A number of these alarm calls were due to the multiple power outages from the high winds.

Squamish RCMP would like to stress to those private residences owners and business owners with alarm systems to ensure the property representatives and emergency contact information is current with their alarm companies.

SCHOOL ZONE SPEED ENFORCEMENT

Thirteen vehicles passing through Squamish school zones on Feb. 14 were going more than 40 kilometres per hour when the limit is 30 kilometres

That day, RCMP Municipal Traffic Section along with Community Policing Speed Watch Program conducted school zone speed enforcement in the areas of Garibaldi Highlands Elementary, Squamish Elementary, and Howe Sound Secondary.

One hundred-thirty vehicles were observed during that time.

TREES FALLING DUE TO HIGH WINDS

Several trees fell down in the District of Squamish on Feb. 18.

The first complaint was a tree on top of an SUV parked on Mamquam Road.

The second report of a downed tree was called in by a passerby who noted tree had fallen onto the railway tracks by Bailey Street.

Both trees were removed successfully and the cause was believed to be the high winds in Squamish over the weekend.

RENEGADE ROBIN HOOD

An arrow was found stuck in the front of a residence on Rae Road in Squamish on Feb.16.

The owner of the property believed it to have happened the previous day and it was determined to have been shot by a compound bow.
