A Smoky Skies Bulletin has been issued for Squamish due to wind carrying wildfire smoke from B.C.’s interior to the Howe Sound area.

The amount of smoke will vary widely as wind, fire behaviour and temperatures change, says a media release by the Ministry of Environment and Vancouver Coastal Health.

Squamish residents should consider avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, the news release says. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and people with underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and lung or heart disease.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact a doctor: difficulty breathing, chest pain or discomfort, sudden onset of cough or irritation of airways.
