A Squamish business has made it to the Top 5 in the "best concept" category of the Small Business BC Awards.

Sea to Sky Removal is the company that made the cut.

A total of more than 600 small businesses received nominations last fall. Since then, it's been narrowed down to five entries per category.

"These businesses will now attend a Dragons’ Den style pitch to a panel of business experts who are tasked with deciding the best of BC’s small business community," Small Business BC said in a news release.

Winners will be announced on Feb. 23.

A few weeks earlier, Sea to Sky Removal was announced as a Top 10 finalist.

If the company wins, it will get $1,500 along with a one-year all-access pass to Small Business BC seminars.

Sea to Sky was established in 2016 and aims to reduce or prevent construction waste from entering the landfill.

Crews use recycling stations and hand-sort loads to make sure recyclables are disposed of properly.

The business also provides waste audit reports and photo documentation so clients can see the effect of their work.
