A bear at Merrill Park in Garibaldi Highlands attacked a man on Sunday, police said.
The man, who is an experienced outdoorsman, was walking with his wife in the park when a female bear protected her cub, which was closeby. The bear charged the man, scratching his leg and causing minor injuries. The couple was able to scare off the bear.
