Squamish police were kept busy last week.

The recent rash of vehicle break-ins and thefts from vehicles continued in the Squamish area last week as a total of seven were targeted — one of the floating variety.
On Thursday (April 10), police received a report that a boat had been broken into while moored at the Squamish marina sometime between April 6 and 8, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement.
The lock to the boat’s cabin had been cut. Stolen were a 22-inch TV, a Blueray player, miscellaneous tools and food. Police are still awaiting additional information about items taken in the incident, Pride said.
On Sunday (April 13), police received a report that four vehicles parked at a home in the 100 block of Furry Creek Drive had been broken into. One of the vehicles had its driver’s-side window smashed and damage to the driver’s-side door. The other three vehicles may have been left unlocked as no damage was reported. All of the vehicles had been rummaged through. Stolen were a set of keys, an Xbox game, an iPod.
Also on Sunday, a vehicle was rummaged through while it was parked in the 10000 block of Valley Drive sometime between Saturday and Sunday. The vehicle had been left unlocked, but apparently nothing was stolen.
Also Sunday, a vehicle was broken into while parked in the 400 block of Bayview Road in Lions Bay. Stolen were figure skates, figure skating clothing and a tote bag containing more than a dozen custom umbrellas. The vehicle’s alarm had gone off at around 1 a.m., but the owner checked and saw nothing suspicious at the time, Pride said. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Dirt bikes stolen
Last Tuesday (April 8), police received a report of two dirt bikes having been stolen the previous weekend from a home in the 300 block of Lions Bay Avenue. The bikes had been parked in the carport and were last seen on Saturday night (April 5). Both had BBR frames and were black and white. They had a value of approximately $6,000.

Man arrested
On Saturday (April 12) at around 2:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman in the 38000 block of Progress Way. A distraught woman was found at the scene. A short time later her boyfriend, a 25-year-old from Squamish, was located at the scene and arrested.

Mail stolen
On Sunday (April 13), police received a report that a community mailbox in Lions Bay had been broken into and mail possibly stolen. The incident occurred sometime between Saturday (April 12) at 5 p.m. and Sunday at midnight. All of the boxes had been pried open, with extensive damage caused to the boxes.
