Why did the duckling cross the road?

Officers give scared ducklings a lift

Move over chickens, some ducks are trying to steal your riddle.

On Saturday morning, North Vancouver RCMP responded to a call about five ducklings trying to cross the road just east of the Lonsdale exit onto Highway 1.

According to a RCMP press release, a passing motorist corralled the ducklings, who appeared in distress while trying to get across the road. The mighty ducklings’ mother was nowhere in sight and all efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.

The five ducklings were then scooped up by attending officers and placed into the rear of a police vehicle for safety.

After being taken back to the North Vancouver detachment, the ducklings received aid from Burnaby’s Wildlife Rescue Association, who found them all to be in good health.

While the association works on helping these Mallards get their ducks in a row, they will be taken care of at the centre.
