A wind warning has been issued as snow continues to fall on Squamish.

"Very strong" wind is forecast for Howe Sound today, according to Environment Canada.

Wind of up to 40 kilometres an hour will hit downtown Squamish, and increase to 70 kilometres an hour over neighbourhoods in the southern section of the district. The wind is expected to ease later this afternoon but remain brisk until tomorrow.

A wind warning is issued when there is risk of damade by high winds. In Squamish today, wind may toss loose objects around and cause tree branches to break, Environment Canada warns.

Five to 10 centimetres of additional snow is predicted for Squamish by this afternoon and more snow will fall tonight. Expect slippery and icy roads.
