This is a great time to celebrate eagles, art and the Brackendale Art Gallery. They contribute so much to our community and we are fortunate to have all three.

Since I’ve been involved with the Brackendale Art Gallery Theatre Teahouse Society, I’ve had the privilege to work closely with Thor Froslev and I’ve seen how important the Brackendale Winter Eagle Festival is to him.

Over the last few months, he has finalized the plans for an Eagle Art exhibition and six special events: three lectures, two concerts and a full-day community celebration. The lectures deal with our natural world: Life in the Depths of Howe Sound, Pipeline Politics, and Bears and Wolves. The concerts feature the Scott Verbeek Quintet, on Jan. 14, with Scott’s creative funk/fusion guitar stylings developed through years of performance and study at the Berklee College of Music, and world-renowned Canadian folk musician, Valdy and the Eagle Band, who will headline the classic Wing Ding Dinner Dance on Jan. 28.

Our society has organized a new daytime event “Celebration of Eagles.” It will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, and will feature five hours of professional music, beer tastings from Howe Sound Brewing and the new A-Frame Brewing Company, and special activities and art displays for the whole family. It’s a great chance to enjoy the eagles, art and our iconic art gallery! Check out all the details at brackendaleartgallery.com and we’ll see you there!
