LETTER: Proposed LNG project in view of tourists, locals

How ironic that in a recent newspaper, the B.C. government made a public call for feedback inquiring on opinions regarding if it clear cuts in straight view of the Sea to Sky Gondola.

If passed, the letter writer says, the proposed LNG project would be in site of the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola.

How ironic that in a recent newspaper, the B.C. government made a public call for feedback inquiring on opinions regarding if it clear cuts in straight view of the Sea to Sky Gondola. The government asked if this would have a negative impact on tourism or not.

There was no mention of concern for how the potential LNG factory may impact or look with its large tankers going in and out of Howe Sound.

If passed, the LNG factory would be central in view from not only the gondola but also the popular Stawamus Chief. The sight of a LNG factory and its tankers will greatly impact the mindset of those who see it, tourists and locals alike.

While the district is pushing hard to sell Squamish to tourism with obnoxious booths found at local lakes such as Murrin, I reckon their efforts would be better spent trying to make Howe Sound a national park and so protecting it from any further industrialization while giving a hand out to protect it.

Howe Sound as a National Park… Now that sounds like a healthy tourist attraction!
