Letter: Return a lost item and they'll be elated

A few weeks ago you ran a letter regarding a lost hearing aid. After it was found and returned to a hearing aid provider, the owner was traced through serial numbers and so forth.

A few weeks ago you ran a letter regarding a lost hearing aid.  After it was found and returned to a hearing aid provider, the owner was traced through serial numbers and so forth. The good news was that the hearing aid was returned to its owner, still in working condition.

No doubt the owner was stressed, had difficulty with hearing and was likely facing a large, unplanned expense to replace the lost item. I can appreciate the elation that owner felt when a phone call was received indicating the missing hearing aid was found.

I had the same experience last week. I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I was for the call to pick up my hearing aid. It was cleaned, checked and ready for use. I have talked to the person who found my device and thanked him profusely by telephone. To me, it is such a relief, and I encourage anyone who finds a lost item (phone, keys, wallets and hearing aids) to take steps to find the owner because it would certainly make their day – and likely yours as well.
