Team Squamish mountain bike club managed to capture several positions on the podium in a Sechelt race over the weekend.

During the Sunshine Coaster’s cross country marathon event, the riders put on a strong performance.

Nineteen-year-old Sean Fincham placed second in the Elite Men’s category, defeating nine other riders aged 20 to 44.

It was a tight race.

Fincham had a time of two hours, 12 minutes and 57 seconds, which was 29 seconds behind the rider who won first.

Former Team Squamish rider Quinn Moberg, aged 23, was right behind Fincham, finishing at third.

In the cross country olympic races, local riders managed to get in the top three.

As one of the two contenders in the under-15 category, Elly Hoskin managed to take the gold by beating her opponent by more than 28 minutes. Hoskin finished the race in about two hours and 11 minutes.

Sorcha Henning grabbed the bronze in the under-19 women’s race, placing third.

Fielding three of the four riders in the division, Squamish dominated the podium in the under-19 men’s category.

Holden Jones placed first, Nick Kleban got silver and Hunter Verner was fourth for that event.
