Squamish had some big victories at B.C.’s 55-plus games.

The competition gives athletes aged 55 and over a chance to demonstrate their talents.

Taking place last week in Vernon, locals from Squamish managed to shine in their respective events.

In hockey, Bob Cunneyworth and Tony Mahood from Squamish were sharp shooters for the gold-winning North Shore Warriors.
They were undefeated in four games, including a close one in the finals against Shuswap 3-2.
This qualifies them to compete in the Canadian 55-plus Games in New Brunswick next August.

Cyndi Cunneyworth had a strong performance in the mountain biking event.
She earned two medals, taking silver for the women’s individual 55 to 59 and gold for the 55 to 64 team event with Alex Watson from North Vancouver.
