Seniors Night Basketball

This Saturday, Feb. 19, Quest University will be hosting its annual Seniors Night Basketball game against the Capilano Blues.

The women’s game will start at 5 p.m. and the men’s at 7 p.m. in the gym on Quest campus. This game marks the senior Quest Kermodes final home game of the regular PACWEST (Pacific Western Athletics Association) season in their basketball careers. Seniors Paul Getz, Dallas Searles, Theo VandenEkart, Noah DeRappard-Yuswack and Tessa Needham will take part in the annual goodbye and thank-you ceremony during an extended intermission between the women’s and men’s game.

Man heads to Special Olympics

Squamish’s Randy Scott of Special Olympics BC is one of a 108 Special Olympics Canada contingent heading to the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria from March 14 to 25.

Scott will be coaching alpine skiing.

Special Olympics Team Canada athletes will compete in six different sports: alpine skiing, cross country skiing, figure skating, floor hockey, snowshoeing and speed skating.

*Please note this brief has been corrected, an earlier version of this post has Scott as the athlete, not the coach.

Provincials heading to town

Dallas Searles goes for a basket during last year’s PACWEST provincials. Quest athletics and recreation department is hosting the 2017 PACWEST Basketball Provincial Championships at the university. The tournament runs from March 2 to 4 and includes both men’s and women’s qualifying basketball teams from the PACWEST Conference.
